Short: Personal Agnus Blit Library v. 2.0 Author: info@cloanto.com (Cloanto) Uploader: info cloanto com (Cloanto) Type: gfx/ppaint Architecture: m68k-amigaos Distribution: Only Cloanto, Aminet and Aminet CD-ROM CLOANTO SOFTWARE UPDATE THIS ARCHIVE CONTAINS THE LATEST VERSION OF THE FOLLOWING LIBRARIES: - personal_agnus_blit.library PROGRAMS USING THE LIBRARIES: - Personal Paint version 7.0 and higher - ColorType version 3.1 and higher INSTALLATION DIRECTORY: - Default : "PPaint:libs", "ColorType:libs" - Optionally: "LIBS:" (software checks both paths and uses the newer library if two are found) ENVIRONMENT VARIABLES: - PBlit_Agnus (Yes/No/Auto) NEW FEATURES: In addition to containing blitting functionality based on the Amiga Agnus blitter logic, this library is queried on startup by programs like Personal Paint to determine whether the Amiga (Agnus) blitter is available for use. Based on the result provided on startup by this library, for example, Personal Paint might shadow the "Settings/Graphics/Amiga Blitter" option and automatically use a blitter emulation library instead. This new library is more flexible in deciding whether it is acceptable to use the Amiga blitter or not, allowing the user to make a choice in certain conditions where the previous library would have shadowed this program option. For example, certain CyberGraphX options which can be set by the user to use Fast RAM in certain conditions in which the system would normally use Chip RAM, will not cause the Amiga Blitter option to be disabled when using this new library. It remains up to the user, when experimenting with these non-standard system options, to manually disable the Amiga Blitter in the application if the new system settings cause incompatibilities. This library, like the previous versions, contains complex and up-to-date logic to detect a condition in which it might not be safe to use the Amiga blitter. This logic can be overridden by setting the "PBlit_Agnus" environment variable to Yes or No (default = Auto). Additional functionality has been integrated in this library to better support future programs. OTHER NOTES: As of version 2.0 of the blitting libraries, and up to a 68040 CPU the Agnus version is on average still faster than the 68K libraries. The Agnus blitting library can only work with bitmaps in Chip RAM. Your feedback is very appreciated: .
