Short: Imagine: Motorola 68040 object w/Socket Author: Gabriele Niccolini, lele1701e@hotmail.com Uploader: Gabriele Niccolini, lele1701e hotmail com Type: pix/3dobj Version: 2.0 Replaces: pix/3dobj/68040iob.lha Architecture: generic --------------------------------------------------------------- INTRO This is my third object made with Imagine and it's a full grown Motorola 68040 @ 40MHz. The object is quite big but it features all the details that the real processor sports. I'm trying to see if the Amiga's Imagine community is still alive and, judjing from the download of my previous objects it actually is, and I couldn't be any prouder! Amiga is STILL a machine that can make quite nice things and this is why this object, as my previous ones, has been made and rendered on a REAL Amiga 1200/030. Now I decided to add, as I did with the 030, the processor's socket. Due to the fact that 68040's number of pins is higher that 030's, I tried to optimize the design by reducing poligons on pins and using the Phong attribute. the result is quite good and doesn't require much more memory. Even rendering times are acceptable. CHANGES IN VERSION 2.0 - Added Socket object - Added more pictures of the socket and of the processor socketed THE PACKAGE The package contains: - MC68040.iob The processor object for Imagine - MC68040SKT.iob The socket object for Imagine - 68040iob.readme It's what you're reading now - MC68040_01.jpg Image of the 68040 you just downloaded - MC68040_02.jpg same as above - MC68040_03.jpg same as above - MC68040_04.jpg same as above but it shows the pins - MC68040_05.jpg Image of the socket - MC68040_06.jpg same as above but it shows the pins - MC68040_07.jpg Image of the 68040 on top of the socket - MC68040_08.jpg same as above REQUIREMENTS If you decide to render both the 68040 and its socket, be sure to have at least 24Megs of Fast RAM. Even if I optimized the socket's design resulting in a smaller object compared to 030's one, it is still huge in Amiga terms. So probably you would need at least a fast 68030 with math coprocessor not slower than 33MHz. Anyway, overnight renders exist for a reason.. INSTALLATION No textures or brushes has been used so you just need to put the objects in your favourite directory and load it in Imagine starting the fun. COPYRIGHT You're free to use the object for all the images you want. The only thing I ask is to not upload the archive or any part of the files contained in the archive, on other repositories. I want to be sure that this object will be kept ONLY on Aminet because, for me, it's THE ONLY Amiga's repository and main resource. Feel free to contact me anytime. Have a good one, and happy renderings. C=Commodore Amiga rules!
