Short: Flash display as an event alert Author: unsatisfactory@bigfoot.com (Chris Young) Uploader: unsatisfactory bigfoot com (Chris Young) Type: util/cli Version: 1.0 Architecture: m68k-amigaos displaybeep 1.0 You probably think this is a complete waste of time. You'd be right. In fact, there are probably hundreds of programs similar to this. But... WHY? Basically, some programs have an option to "execute command" when an event occurs. They do not always give you an option to BEEP when something happens. This is intended as a quick fix to enable you to DisplayBeep() when the option isn't given. Features include a configurable beep/flash combination (WB3 only), standard version string and fully residentable code. Configuration (no, really) ------------- Workbench 3 users can configure whether this command flashs the display, beeps or plays a custom sound sample, by using the standard WB "Sound" preferences. On earlier versions of Workbench, the display will flash. Installation ------------ Copy it into your path, then in the "execute command" box of interest, type "displaybeep" Disclaimer ---------- Okay, so it's only about 4 lines of code. It's extremely unlikely that anything will have gone wrong. Even with my coding, bugs are unlikely. But in the event that anything does go wrong (like, for instance, displaybeep decides to reformat your hard drive), then I will not take responsibility. In other words, use this at your own risk. +-----------------------------------------+ |Unsatisfactory Software - "because it is"| |http://www.unsatisfactory.freeserve.co.uk| +-----------------------------------------+
