Gygax's imagination  is not the limit of fantasy.  The theme could have been better developped.  However, it does show how common an individual's fancy can be.  
The two-axis mirroring of shapes (cloud patterns - land mass) works very well.  The sparse objects are well-placed, and makes an interesting image.
