You've got a good concept and a well modeled scene, but your image is being held back by flat textures and simple lighting.  I have no Lightwave experience, but if that program has a radiosity feature, I would highly recommend that you look into it; it's amazing how much realism can be added to a scene by a simple (sort of) change in the lighting.  Keep working on it, you're on to something here.
